My family and I spend the evening Saturday before Memorial Day in historic Harper's Ferry. We got there a little late (sun was setting for some of the photos) for what we'd planned (Ghost Hunt), but we decided to make the best of it. Next time, I promise a better write-up and more photos!
My childhood friend, and photographer, Mark Fordyce made the excursion to Bridge Day in Fayetteville - at the New River Gorge Bridge last week. Here are a few of his photos.

Newborns steal the show at WV Wildlife Center 06-14-2013 09:22 FRENCH CREEK, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wildlife Center was designed to be a reflection of the wildlife in West Virginia. The zoological attraction in Upshur County includes exhibits of wildlife which exist in West Virginia, or once existed here and died out.
Much like the wild, the Wildlife Center reflects the changing seasons. Visitors stopping by during the late days of spring and early summer are being treated to the always enjoyable sights of the young of the year.

Sixteen-year-old Levi Staats will attend the World Archery in Schools Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa July 21-29. Staats qualified during the recent National Archery in Schools tournament for the U.S. National Team.

Ohio angler boats skipjack record 06-08-2013 02:15 POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. – An Ohio fisherman now holds the West Virginia state record catch for the skipjack. Zachary Hankins of Chesapeake, Ohio landed the fish May 7th while fishing from a boat below the Robert C. Byrd Lock and Dam on the Ohio River in Mason County.
The fish measured 19.21 inches in length and weighed 2.64 pounds. The catch established a new record for both length and weight. He caught it on a crappie jig while fishing in the dam’s tailwaters.

(June 7, 2013)– West Virginia University rising senior Chance Cover finished first in the class A men’s 50m rifle prone competition, yesterday, at the 2013 USA Shooting National Championships for Rifle and Pistol, at the Shooting Range of the United States Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Ga.

The Point to Cairo, a thousand mile journey 06-01-2013 06:32 Pittsburgh resident Ian Davis launched an adventure Saturday which will occupy his time for much of this summer. Davis shoved off from Point State Park in Pittsburgh at he confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela River and started downstream in the Ohio River.
